Our Lions are off and running, and I am not talking about our mascot, although I have heard he is pretty quick on his feet. Our PTA fundraising is off to a good start this year with our Cherrydale fundraiser and recent restaurant night at Fuddrucker’s, bringing in funds to sponsor our school events. Also, be on the lookout for our Book Fair the first week of December. It is a great opportunity to shop for the holidays and support your school. In addition to books, we will also be selling our school T-shirts for $5.00 at the Book Fair, So, let your Pride show and wear your school shirt.
About 150 students participated in the National PTA Reflections program in visual art and literature. This year was Mason’s first entry into the program and nearly 20% of our students participated - great job! Additionally, our students recently enjoyed an opera assembly of The Magic Flute - and who thought opera wasn’t fun? December brings another first-time program with the introduction of Goodies and Grandparents Day. We will be offering a free picture of our students with their grandparent(s) and then they will have an opportunity to decorate a holiday frame to take home as a keepsake. I would also like to thank all those who attended our PTA meeting on November 14th to help approve our PTA items and watch programs by our Kindergartners and Second graders. Future school assemblies and programs are in the works; so if you have any suggestions, please feel free to contact me at

A focus this year will be projects that enhance the image and beautify our school grounds. Be on the lookout for projects that you can adopt. We will have planting and painting opportunities to make our gray campus more colorful. As we enter the holiday season, I am reminded of the thanks we should be giving for what we have. The Mason Community is blessed with many things to be thankful for: our teachers - who dedicate many hours of their day to provide our students with the learning tools and support so they will grow into successful citizens; our administrators and staff - who provide a safe and proper environment so our young people can thrive; and our volunteers - who contribute in so many small and large ways that it would take an entire volume to record their contributions. And I would like to thank our parents who do a great job being involved with their student whether it is by helping with homework, providing resources so they have an opportunity to learn, or simply by reading this newsletter to keep in touch. I wish everyone at Mason “Happy Holidays” and a prosperous New Year. |
