Wow…the International Potluck was a great success.  I would like to thank all the parents who attended, and especially those who brought their favorite recipes to share.  The students did a fantastic job under the direction of Ms. Exner and Ms. Gronotte and their programs were real crowd pleasers.  I would also like to thank the PTA volunteers who made it so successful…well done. I would like to thank all the people who purchased items through our Cherrydale fundraiser.  Although we did not sell enough to reach our goal, the event will still let us bring events to our school for our children including the opera, mad science programs and various classroom field trips.  The PTA is always looking for ways to improve the quality of our fundraisers.  If you have any suggestions for improvement, please let me know at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .Our membership continues to grow and we are only 45 applications away from our goal.  We need your support, so please join.  Don’t worry about if you don’t have the time to volunteer at this point.  The number of people in our membership allows us to influence decision makers at the council and district levels.  Your membership really counts. As Mason grows, so should our commitment to add resources for our students.  While brainstorming with our administrators, two ideas emerged which should be considered so we can leave a lasting legacy to improve student learning.  First, I think it is important for all our students to have access to computers.  We should consider a way to furnish computers for our students to use.  Second, I think we should support the development of a Science Lab where classes can go to perform experiments that would otherwise be impractical in their classrooms.  Obviously these projects will take more than just rhetoric, but by laying down a strategic plan for the future, I hope we can provide the resources to improve our children’s education. Our school year is off to a great start.  I have seen the remarkable dedication by our PTA, parent volunteers, teachers, staff and administrators for the purpose of educating our students.  Each of us makes a difference and together we can create a positive environment for our children filled with learning and skill development that will last a lifetime.
