President’s Perspective

On behalf of your PTA I would like to welcome everyone back to Mason. We are excited about the new school year and the opportunities we want to provide for our children. If there is a theme I would like to present, it would be a “little goes a long way”. We have seen an increase in parent and community participation to support our school. The remarkable thing is that it is not a tremendous effort by any one person or group, but rather an effort by many people focusing their energy for the school.

I am please to announce that the PTA is almost full of volunteer parents. We could use a Volunteer coordinator and some help with individual events throughout the year. However, our biggest challenge is getting a room parent volunteer to represent each classroom. This position will only require a few hours a month of time, but it is crucial for our communications and organization. Please consider volunteering.

This year you will have the opportunity to join the PTA for just $7.00. We need you to join regardless of your ability to volunteer. There are truly strength in numbers, and when we need something from the District – a PTA that represents hundreds of concerned voting parents will make a difference in getting what they want to support our students.

This year’s PTA Board is comprised of: Josiebelle Trampe - Treasurer, Dawn Kaiser - Secretary, Donna Webb - Membership, Kimberley Poole - Outbound Fundraising and Hospitality, Tiffany Salcedo - Newsletter Chairman, Kathy Hall & Nina McGuckin - Programs, Brad Brockmeyer - Webmaster, Michele Jazo - Indirect Fundraising, Wendy Keely - Historian, Amy Campbell - Auditor, Sylvia Young - Teacher Representative, and Deidre Hardson - Principal.  I am especially impressed that our Board has new people in half of the Board positions bringing with them a lot of energy and a renewed sense of purpose.

We have a full schedule of events this year and new fundraisers to support our students. This year’s September Fundraiser will put 60% of all monies raised back into the classrooms to be used for field trips, supplies and programs.

As always we welcome feedback and would like to hear from you. Please submit the survey in the last year’s newsletter or go online to masonpta.org. If you have any other suggestions to improve the educational experience of our children, please e-mail me at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

I look forward to a great year and I will see you at our Back to School Night on Wednesday September 17th.  We will hold a short PTA Meeting prior to the event to vote on our new budget, programs and fundraisers. Please plan to attend – we need your support.
