As we approach the end of the school year, I would like to dedicate this month’s article to the people at Mason who made the difference in the lives of our children.  The National PTA Organization sponsors a program titled the Three for Me Promise that encourages adults to give three hours of your time on behalf of their child’s education.  Unbeknownst to many of our parents, they were already giving 3 hours – plus some.

While many people are involved in making our school a great place to learn, I would like to thank those people who stepped up to show their commitment by taking on leadership positions with the PTA.  I would like to thank Nina McGuckin who was this year’s Treasurer and spent many hours keeping track or our funds.  Kimberley Poole, who was instrumental in helping with Hospitality and Fundraising.  Tirzah Mihalov, who coordinated our membership, the Reflections program and the Book Fair.  Lori Ovard, who did an excellent job of publishing our School Newsletter.  Tiffany Salcedo, who was our PTA Secretary and who helped out at many functions.  Kathy Hall provided support with programs and participated with numerous events.   Wendy Keely who was our Historian and Karin De Jauregui who was our Parliamentarian.  Further thanks go to Brad Brockmeyer, who spent hours upgrading and updating our school website.  Elise Potter helped with organizing our volunteers and Amy Campbell kept us in line as our auditor.  Briana Kaminski helped with coordinating our Box Top collections, hospitality and numerous other events; Lita Eatmon-Ponciano with programs and Wanda Campbell for her guidance and help with the International Potluck.  Also helping with our various fundraisers was Dawn Kaiser; Michele Jazo helped coordinate our Barnes and Noble fundraiser. Additionally, I would like to thank Sylvia Young, our teacher representative, who did a great job as a liaison with our teaching staff.  Many thanks to Deidre Hardson, our principal, for supporting the PTA mission at our school.  Lastly, I want to thank our Lion Mascot.  But due to privacy concerns and a shroud of mystery I am forbidden to mention names – but Scott and John did a great job…oops.

A special mention goes to the unsung heroes who joined the PTA this year and contributed to their child’s classroom, participated in our fundraisers, attended the PTA Association Meetings and helped out at our school Clean Up Day.  You guys ROCK!

I apologize in advance if I have forgotten someone.  Your efforts have not been forgotten, even if the school year seemed to speed along in a big blur.  For those 5th grade parents – so long.  For all you others – see you next September.  I have a PTA membership application with your name on it.
