"Flush" Review Print E-mail
By Dan Dominguez

How would you feel if your dad was in jail and if your parents’ marrage was in jeopardy? Well, that’s how Noah, a kid in middle school, feels. This book has drama, action, and righteousness, and if you want a book like that then READ FLUSH! Flush can inspire kids to do right, not wrong! This book has even taught me, a 5th grader Dan Dominguez, to be nicer to the environment. I feel this way because in this book it shows how bad things can happen if you are mean to the earth. Anyways, this book has a lot of cool themes and can change the world. I think this book is awesome no matter what genre you like. This story is worth reading!

ROCK ON!

Hello Mason Lions Print E-mail
I’m proud to be student body president and writer of the Mason Student Council page in the Newsetter.  Student Council has met and made many decisions already. First, we would like to keep the Talent Show because we feel that it inspires kids to bring out their talents.  We also want to plan "Theme Days" this year like "Pajama Day" and "Twin Day".

Student Council and Mrs. Talner have agreed on a new fundraiser for our school Recycling!  Start saving your bottles and cans and remember, money made from those items goes to the school.

Our Historian, Danielle Wheeler, will be photographing school events and activities and keeping a scrapbook for the Student Council. We hope to place this scrapbook in the office for all visitors to see.

Most importantly, there is going to be a food drive held at Mason. It is scheduled for the second week in   December.  The food drive boxes will be placed in front of the front office building. The food collected will be donatedto families in need of extra food during the holiday season. We hope you will donate an item or two.

Your New Student Council President,

Chanel Kim

The Democratic process was in full swing at Mason on October 17th.  Mason 4th and 5th grade students exercised their right to vote when electing the new ASB officers for  2008-2009. Elections were held in the classrooms after all 20 candidates gave their speeches in hopes of being elected to the Student Council.  All candidates should be commended for their thoughtful, well-delivered ideas as to why they should be elected to a leadership position.

  • Chanel Kim - President
  • David Wheeler - Vice President
  • Joshua Cate - Treasurer
  • April Sii - Secretary
  • Danielle Wheeler - Historian/Publicity
  • McKenzie Kaiser - Appointed Fire Marshal

Student Council will meet monthly to plan events and activities in the interest of all Mason students. Also, the Student Council plans to be a regular contributor to this newsletter, so be on the look out for interesting articles written by the students for the students at Mason!
