Snow day: Sixth-grade camp proved especially memorable for students from Challenger and Pacific Beach middle schools. During their week at the District's Palomar Outdoor School on Mount Palomar, December 15-18, 2008, more than a foot of snow fell. Generations of San Diego Unified students have attended a week of outdoor schooling at mountain camps, currently part of the Off-Campus Integrated Learning Experience program.
